Battery life is always the biggest issue any smartphone has, comparing with feature phones of the past, smartphones barely lasts more than a day with normal usage. The reason is the capacity of the battery – for example Galaxy S5 has 2800 mAh battery, iPhone 5S has 1560 mAh battery. With the design of thin phones it is not always possible to put bigger batteries in smartphones.
Now, Philips – Dutch based Technology Company, known for its technological invention (they created the CD), introduced android based smartphone, named Philips W6618, and it has massive 5300 mAh non-removable battery! With the battery of this size, it gives this phone, 1604 hours of stand-by time or 66 days of stand-by time (comparing with iPhone 5S – 10 days of stand-by time (250 hours)), and 33 hours of talk time.
Philips W6618 is powered by Android 4.2 Jelly Beans, which is bit old OS and features dual sim. With quad-core 1.3Ghz MediaTek processor and 1GB ram and 4GB of internal storage, this phone gives fare mid-range capabilities. Phone also has 5 inch display with 540 x 960 pixels and supports external microSD. The phone is 11.6mm think, it is bit thicker than any other normal smartphones because of the massive battery.
The phone is release in China for $273 and it is not clear the phone will be released outside of China.
