In this beautiful picture, shows the complicated dust surrounding the Orion nebula - located about 1600 light years away. The dust is opaque to visible light and created around the outer layers of massive cool stars.
The intricate filaments of dusts are shown in gray and the glowing gas is highlighted in brown and blue. Over next few million years, much of these dusts will be slowly consumed by the starts that are being formed here or pushed away to spread into the Galaxy.
